When Life Feels Harder Than It Should

A different way of understanding stress, overwhelm, and the patterns we carry—through early experiences, relationships, biology, faith, and lived experience

Feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or wondering why life feels harder than it should?

Many capable women spend years believing that more effort, more learning, and more love will eventually make life feel easier.
Until one day they realize: they’re carrying more than effort was ever meant to hold.

If This Feels Familiar, You're Not Alone

  • You feel tired even when you’ve technically rested
  • You find yourself reacting bigger than you want to
  • You feel disconnected from yourself, your family, or the life you thought you’d enjoy more
  • You push through the day and crash when everything finally slows down
  • You wonder why you’re trying so hard and still feel like you’re falling behind
Sometimes understanding changes what effort alone never could.

A Different Way of Understanding

At Soul Essentials Health & Wellness, the Burnt, Not Broken Method brings together the Beyond the Mind’s Edge (BMe) Model, practical everyday supports through the FREEDOM Foundations, and a strength-based perspective that recognizes people are not broken—they are often responding in ways that once made sense.

This work explores how experiences, relationships, stress, and everyday life influence how we connect, respond, and move through the world.
Not to assign blame.
Not to fix people.
But to create understanding.

Because sometimes understanding changes what effort alone never could.

Burnt, Not Broken Method (BNB)

Built on the FREEDOM Foundations: Faith, Resilience, Energy, Environment, Diet, Optimal Sleep, and Movement

Sometimes life can feel like something inside us has stopped working. But often, what we’re experiencing isn’t failure. It may be the result of carrying more responsibility, stress, expectations, and effort than one person was ever meant to hold alone. The Burnt, Not Broken Method is a strength-based approach that offers a different way of understanding stress, overwhelm, and the patterns we carry. Rather than asking people to push harder or become more disciplined, this work focuses on creating more support than strain—through greater understanding, everyday practices, and meaningful connection.
A different way forward:

  • From always pushing → to understanding what support looks like
  • From feeling disconnected → to reconnecting with yourself and the people who matter most
  • From running on effort alone → to building rhythms that feel more sustainable
  • From getting through the day → to creating space for calm, clarity, and connection
Because sometimes understanding changes what effort alone never could.

Beyond the Mind's Edge (BMe) Coaching Model

A strength-based model that looks beyond behavior to explore how early experiences, relationships, and everyday life may shape the way we respond to stress, connect with others, and move through life. This work is not about blame or labels. It is about creating understanding.

Through BMe, people begin to explore:

  • How our earliest relationships can shape the way we experience safety, connection, and stress
  • Why certain reactions and coping patterns can feel automatic
  • How experiences from the past sometimes continue showing up in everyday life
  • How awareness, support, and everyday practices can create new possibilities moving forward

Freedom Foundations

Moving forward is about more than taking a break. It happens when life begins creating more support than strain.

The FREEDOM Foundations are everyday practices that support how we live, connect, and grow.

Faith & Fun
Meaning, joy, play, and connection create space for life to feel lighter and more grounded.
Resilience
Building flexibility, recovery, and confidence through everyday life.
Energy
Supporting the energy needed to think clearly, connect well, and meet life’s demands.
Environment
Creating supportive spaces, rhythms, and inputs that influence how we feel and function.
Diet
Simple, nourishing choices that support energy, focus, and overall well-being.
Optimal Sleep
Sleep creates space for rest, recovery, and showing up as ourselves more consistently.
Movement

You're Not Alone

From Birth to Burnout-  When you Grow up on the "Wrong Side of the Tracks"

Why I Do This Work:

For most of my life, I believed exhaustion was simply the price of being responsible.
I was the one who pushed through. The one who figured things out. The one who kept going.

From the outside, life looked successful. I built a career, earned my master’s degree in organizational leadership, and spent decades doing what many capable women do—holding everything together.

But eventually I realized something I couldn’t ignore: effort alone wasn’t making life feel easier.

Looking back, I began to see patterns I didn’t have language for at the time—not to judge the past, but to understand it differently.

That understanding changed everything. It led me to explore early experiences, relationships, stress biology, faith, and lived experience through a trauma-informed lens.

What I discovered was not that people are broken. Often, they’ve simply been carrying more than they were meant to carry alone.

Today, my work is centered on offering a different way of understanding why life can sometimes feel harder than it should.
Not to assign blame.
Not to fix people.
But to create understanding.

Because when understanding changes, families change. And sometimes understanding changes what effort alone never could.
